Fey the Potion Maker
A fantasy-themed puzzle game where you draw magical connections between ingredients to brew potions in your abode among the clouds with a family-focused story interwoven. I designed, programmed and created the art for the game. Built with Unity, Visual Studio, Aesprite and Krita. The player solves puzzles by connecting ingredients to make potions. The few rules and limitations of the puzzles require the player to go about solving each one carefully. A ‘recipe’ list indicates how many and what ingredients there are. Ingredients need a certain number of connections. Players place ingredients in active tiles on the grid and draw bonds to satisfy the ingredients’ requirements. Bonds also have limitations about where they can be made. The puzzles gradually increase in difficulty as the player becomes more skilled and accustomed to the puzzle. After completing a potion, a cut-scene moves the plot forward so that the player can engage emotionally with the player character, Fey. Dotty Sleep
Help Dotty get a good night's sleep, collide with happy dreams and dash through nightmares to avoid waking her up! My first video-game which I programmed, designed and drew for. Built with Unity, Visual Studio, Krita and Paint Tool SAI. The game's mechanics are very simple: move around with the arrow keys and press SHIFT to dash. The player has 3 lives and the aim of the game is just beating your previous high-score. |
Tea and Tartlets
A top-down story-based cafe simulation game concept designed in a team that won the BAFTA YGD 15-18 age category. A key aspect was high inclusivity and representation. The submission for the competition involved clear communication of the functionality of the game mechanic, artwork to express the creative vision and suitability to the platform and target audience. The two main aspects of Tea & Tartlets are running your cafe & the story focused on the romantic interest of the game. At a point, a food critic will come along and have the cafe closed down regardless of how the player has performed - particularly during this time, the romantic interest will help the player character, and by the end of the game the two will run the cafe together. |
